Situated in the elegant “Sestiere” (venetian neighbourhood) of Dorsoduro, Agli Alboretti is a fine three star hotel, meticulously run since three generations by the same family, helped by a dedicated staff.
It offers the quiet, relaxing atmosphere of an ancient Venetian house and a strategic position to visit Venice’s most interesting sites. The hotel is a few steps away from some of Venice’s most important museums such as the Accademia Galleries, Cà Rezzonico and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and very close to St. Mark’s Square and the Rialto bridge.
It is very well connected with public transport, therefore easy to reach from Marco Polo airport, Santa Lucia railway station as well as from Venice’s principal car and buses terminals (Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto).
Its 21 rooms are furnished in 19th century or navy style and have been recently redecorated. They are fitted with private services, satellite TV, free wi-fi, mini bar and air conditioning in Summer. They overlook either the fine street named Rio Terà Foscarini or some private inner gardens among which the courtyard of the hotel where, in Summer, breakfast is served.
A lift makes it easy to reach the four floors of the building and the top floor terrace where guests can sit and relax enjoying a charming view.
The curious name “Agli Alboretti” (meaning small trees in Venetian) comes from the trees that were planted at the end of 19th century along the street where the Hotel is located, when the former canal was filled in and transformed into a paved way. Venetians are not accustomed to have trees along the “calli” so they started to name it “the street of the small trees”.
